These Draft Guidance Notes have been prepared, and are published, by a committee representing various sectors of the financial services industry (the “Committee”). Their publication on the Central Bank of Ireland’s website was solely to facilitate the Committee in their communication to the public.
The Committee consulted with the Central Bank of Ireland (the “Bank”) during the drafting process of the Guidance Notes and the current draft incorporates the views of the Bank. As previously noted, credit and financial institutions must refer to the provisions of the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing) Act 2010 (the “Act”) to ascertain their statutory obligations.
The Minister for Justice and Law Reform in consultation with the Minister for Finance has the power to approve such Guidance Notes under section 107 of the Act.
Period of consultation is now closed.
